Stun your guests by breaking out the Fine Mardi Gras plastic at your next Dinner Party!

With Spring fully in the air this season many locals will begin inviting their friends over to celebrate the one month of decent weather we'll have here in the south. Many will struggle and compete to exhilarate the party goers with fancy hors d'oeuvres and fine China, but we Eastern Shore folks know the real way to stun our guests... by opening up our fine plastic display.

Usually only on display behind glass in our dining rooms, our plastic Mardi Gras cups rarely get much use. Since they can only be obtained as Mardi Gras throws their rareness puts a high value on each individual cup, some more than others.
Once, a Crew of Columbus cup from 1997 fetched a whopping $38,000 at a local auction.

Personally, I recommend for this season, a 1988 Green Order of the Mystic Magnolias cup with gold trim if you happen to be serving a savory red wine with dinner (Think a dry Merlot or Cabernet). The highly toxic plastic used that year really lends itself well to provide a sweetness that balances the bitter aftertaste. If you happen to be planning a daytime event serving Mimosas or a light white wine I recommend a 2005 Knights of Ecor Rouge cup in faded yellow. The yellow represents the sunshine shining down on your guests cooking them to a crisp when it was only 50 degrees an hour ago.

Don't stop with just the cups though. This is a perfect opportunity to use those leftover Moon Pie's stuck deep down in your pantry. Moon Pie Salad, Moon Cake, Moon Pie Martini with Bailey's and Kahlua. The list goes on. Mardi Gras is certainly the holiday that never end here in Fairhope.

Local Grandman Triathlon cancelled after athletes switch to new Pensacola event.

What was once a small triathlon in Pensacola is now a huge national competition after management went all out on marketing this year. The 6th Annual PENSacola BEACH TRiathlon spent upwards of $1.50 in unmarked U.S currency to help promote the race this year. The single cardboard sign found in behind a closed down JC Penney's has helped boost the attendance this year from 10 people to now 10,000 and growing.

The issue with this is that the Fairhope Grandman competition set in June and brings tons of money into our local economy. For the first week in june Fairhope was set to make upwards of $150,000 profit from Michelob Ultra and visor style hats alone. The Grandman hosted 725 racers last year and had already registered 700 last month, but the draw to the Pensacola event has brought that registration number down to a measly 7.

We suppose that the unusual style of this race has a lot to do with the attention. The event starts with a 300 yard swim, then onto a 10 mile bike cruise, but finishes with what appears to be a 31 mile run. A far cry from the usual "Sprint" Tri's. This one definitely looks good for the runners. For those who wish to join in but lack the endurance the Tri will offer a separate registration for anyone wishing to just get photos of themselves running out of the water onto the beach shirtless looking super cool for a small fee.

Haunted Fairhope Mural Starts To Eat Selfie Taking Tourists Alive-

On a lovely Monday afternoon in downtown Fairhope a group of young women passing through from Ohio noticed a bright glowing aura permeating the wall space from their table at Another Broken Egg. After they downed their Mimosa's they clopped across the street to see what had attracted their attention. It was the now famous mural that most Fairhopers know instantly appeared overnight many years ago. No one is sure who painted it, we just know one morning it was there in all it's glory.

The girls were suddenly impelled to upload the themselves with the wall to Instagram, a famous social media photography app. The beta female was asked to step back and take the photo while the rest of the group all lined up with Right shoulders facing out, hand on hips, and their best "Blue Steel" pose. The photographer, Amy Stevens, says the last thing she saw was the flash of her iPhone and instantly the girls were gone, only to be replaced with colorfully painted aquatic life.
Families of loved ones lost to the wall often come to mourn.

Researching older Instagram photos shows that the Mural was merely plain colored blocks when it first appeared. Over the years however, It seems to be growing with painted sea creatures. One man, Skylar Holloway, who holds a PhD. in Oceanography and Masters in Necromancy has been studying the wall for years ever since he witnessed an entire Sorority from Auburn turn into a school of painted fish right before his eyes.

Skylar tells TFI "The wall obviously is possessed with an aquatic spirit, say a giant squid, or Cthulhu. I'm not very certain, but I am am certain that the thing feeds off of Social Media. Especially Instagram.".

We contacted Instagram HQ and spoke with customer support about the possibility of using their app for consumption of souls. They replied that yes, this was a very common practice that is most of used by models or attention seeking celebrities who need more sustenance than food alone.

TFI warns all residents to take heed when approaching the wall, and to be cautious with selfies when near.

Local teens rejoice as H&M comes to Fairhope.

Last year news of a new H&M store opening up in Mobile spread like a wildfire all the way to the Eastern Shore. Many friends of mine were excited about this and rejoiced at the prospect of shopping here on opening day despite the long drive.

Even throughout the internet much love has been given to the European based company and how they're "changing the game" or whatever. Little did we know that our little town has opened the popular store with almost no hype.

When driving south on 98 towards Barnwell one can find the H&M on the left hand side just before hitting the stop sign. Now that TFI has broke the news they may have to expand the parking lot. I'm not exactly sure why teens and young adults are so excited about golf carts, but with the new laws pertaining to golf cart road use I can see why.
